The combination of Fernandes and Soucek compliment one another. A solid central midfield partnership sharing the workload between them well. Soucek doing the donkey work battling for everything whilst Fernandes gets on more with dictating the play. We've missed Souceks battling qualities and experience.

No coincidence since they've both been paired together last 4 games we've had a significant upturn in results and performances.

I’d chance Potts or Magassa to start instead of Tommy for their energy, get the ball forward and we’ve got a decent chance of coming away with something, would be lovely to put a spanner in their works again. Free hit.
I think it is harsh on Soucek. Actually think his passing (which tends to be a weakness of his) has improved since we have gone with him and Fernandes. Think not having that extra midfielder (at times two) is giving him more time and sensible options when it comes to passing the ball. Also one of the few leaders we have in the squad. We need his experience.

The annoying thing is with Forest playing Wolves on Weds it won't be the Wolves side that rolled us over
Why won't it?

If anything, they added to their squad with Angel Gomes. They did lose Larsen but he is useless anyway.
Yup. I think this is a game Wolves will be looking forward to. That 11 point thing will be bugging them and they wont have the tension or frustration of the home crowd. I fancy them to get something.

That said, I thought Brentford would beat Forest the other week and that Brighton would beat Palace so wtfdik

I fancy it. A rare good atmosphere under the lights and the boys are at it from the off.

I think Dalot will be how they try to stop Summerville, but if Jimmy gets a few one-on-ones with Maguire, its game over.

Wolves could feasibly get a draw against Forest. Hopefully Forest take it for granted and take their eye off the ball like we did against Wolves.

Obviously hope I'm wrong as a win would be colossus. A draw fine too.

The last time we played them at Old Trafford both started and played most of the game 1-1 end result in December - 1 of the few positive results/performances we had during our terrible Christmas run we had. Then once they tire in 2nd half/Half Time, then take them off.

Should be more competitive than it would have been if played before Christmas. But I don't think we will win this with the form Man U are in. Agree with Stubbo about Soucek likely to be dropped for this. I would also like to see Wilson on the bench until second half.

I think we are in for a 1-2 loss. Taty getting our goal. Unless Wilson rescues a point late in the second half.

Got the 2-0 right on Saturday and reckon this could be a score draw 1-1. I'd take that now as well with the form Man Utd are currently on.

If we wanna stay up, we need to win one or two games we're not expected to.
This would be a good place to start.

Another weekend slides by in the 2026 season, and West Ham record their third Premier League win in 4 games.  Admittedly Burnley are pretty much garbage, but you have to beat what's put in front of you and as Wolves showed, West Ham are infinitely capable of slipping on a banana skin fixture,

Talk is that post Burnley, Nuno has earmarked 6 specific fixtures for victory, and the others are viewed as winnable free hits, so one would expect him to go after the next opponent with reckless attacking abandon.

Man Utd have been under a notable resurgence since they got the Carrick deal sewn up.  The ex West Ham, Spurs and Man Utd  silky playmaker showing just how inept Amorim was with an immediate upturn in form that makes Man Utd suddenly look like meaningful Champions League qualification contenders (and they can go 3rd no less if winning this game).

Similarly, a win for the Irons in this game could be of huge significance.  With our nearest rivals having some banker fixures, and you'd think expecting to stretch the gap, maintaining the current disadvantage at the end of 90 minutes would really put the cat amongst the pigeons.  It would also leave Man Utd fan Frank Illett with a barnet that looks straight out of a 70s Kevin Keegan year book, and one only hope the hirsute attention seeker is choking on his own floppy follicles by the end of Tuesday.

Team wise, Nuno has confirmed Hermansen came in on merit and not due to injury on Saturday, so after a relatively assured performance and a clean sheet expect him to keep his place.  The main questions I suspect will be centred around Wilson, and maybe Soucek.  The quick turnaround (and step up in class) could see Wilson returned to the bench, and with Disasi looking granite like in defence, Soucek's provision of aerial competence may be deemed less important and could see the return of Potts.  I suspect we see him hold his place however.

Predicted Line Up:
T-Rex

AWB   Mavropanos    Disasi   Diouf

Soucek    Fernandes

Bowen     Pablo      Summerville

Taty
Subs:  Areola, KWP, Scarles, Kilman, Magassa, Potts, Kante, Adama, Wilson

As for score line.  We have form. They have form.  Is home an advantage under the lights these days?  Probably not.  But it's a quick turnaround, and maybe Carrick through the luxury of options will look to rotate more than Nuno and we could see a maringally weakened side...but they have a week off after this game so probably not.

It would be beautiful justice to see this idiot miss out on his trip to the barbers, so I'm going for a score draw in this one.  Man Utd have shooting from distance talent in their ranks, with Fernandes, Sesko, Cunha and Mbuemo....and that could be where we come unstuck with Hermansen's short arms known to be problematic at stopping the long rangers.  But I fancy we'll score.  And a point to the total in this one would be no disgrace.

Predicted Result:

West Ham 1 : 1 Man Utd (Taty, Cunha)
