We're going down, unfortunately. It feels like it could be a double blow doesn’t it. It’s one thing getting relegated because your shit like wolves or Burnley, who have already excepted there fate, but it’s a whole different scenario going down having assembled a good team that’s going to be decimated. Let’s hope we keep it going and finally get a bit of luck.
To be fair, we probably all would've taken a draw before the game. But it just feels like a loss to me.

Pleased for Soucek to have a good game and score, I was worried about his pace but MU sitting off helped out. So close to a massive and deserved result but that’s par for our course at the moment. Agree with the subs of Scarles for Diouf and Magassa for Potts but Nuno didn’t need to change anyone else, Bowen and Jimmy off was madness, how many times does Nuno need the same lessons.
Who is it that says it’s 7 minutes of time added? Don’t remember a physio on the pitch.

Atmosphere in the ground was superb. Great mix of old boys, young lads and an interesting blend of young africans and asians up for it too. Not many kids and less girl friends on phones. All added up to a tense noisy vibe. Felt like a good Moyes European night.

Re: West Ham vs Man Utd | PL | 10.2.26 | Predictions & Match Thread
Atmposphere actually sounded really good on the telly last night. The two commentators commented on it, and to be fair to them made several comments on the lack of fouls we seemed to get. They seemed baffled that the idiot in the middle waved away at least two pulls on Bowen and one nailed on foul on Wilson. Plus I think there was a nasty stamp on Fernandes, ok I don't think it was deliberate, more mis-timed but have seen people get a red for less.
Still gutted this morning because despite our poor defensive record I thought we were going to get over the line. No blame attached, that fella probably wouldn't have made that sort of contact 9 times out of 10. We are definitely getting better defensively. Hermansen impressed with his lack of nerves considering such poor performances early on. Ok he hasn't been bombarded yet but seems confident enough to come and claim balls into the box and catches a lot of them which helps. Disasi really looks a good loan signing. Proper centre back you can just see it. Strong, decent pace and good positional sense, felt for him on the goal. Brings the best out of Mav as well, really think he is improving as confidence runs through the side, had a good game again. Just such a shame we couldn't hold on.

Like to mention the atmosphere last night. Shocking how if the team is giving full effort and fighting for it, the crowd is more up for it.
yes the ground isnt great but its a myth its impossible to have a good atmosphere there

Im getting sick of refs letting players push, shove, manhandled our players to the floor and give us nothing, yet we go near theirs they cant wait to blow.
Its not even funny how biased refereeing is

Re: West Ham vs Man Utd | PL | 10.2.26 | Predictions & Match Thread
Also how could I not mention the ref. An unbelievably bias performance where he gave us absolutely nothing all game then adds on 7 mins. Their game against Spurs at the weekend the ref was also shocking.
Re: West Ham vs Man Utd | PL | 10.2.26 | Predictions & Match Thread
Given the Spurs and Leeds results that feels like a defeat. Scarles has to do better for me, blocking the cross but also when he intercepted it just put your head down and run for the corner. The subs should of been both fullbacks for both wingers to double up and essentially play two left backs and two right backs. Traore is dogshit, a juiced up sprinter trying to be a premier league footballer.
How many games is that now where we have dropped points in the last 10 mins. Is it a mentality thing or do we just run out of steam? If we cant hold onto points we wont stay up.
Thought Mavro or Bowen MOTM for me. Summerville was also good again, Fernandes lost the ball alot around our own box. AWB for me looked completely lost at times, caught upfield and when he did get the ball in an attacking area his first touch was negative and backwards.
The team look like they are capable of staying up, which we didnt think a month ago. However with all these good performances we haven't closed the gap much and we have a tough run after Bournemouth which is now another 12 pointer.

It's too complicated to predict as the sides in trouble all play each other. If we keep playing like we are then we can catch someone, but as as Manuel says we are running out of games so we need wins not draws.

It does show though how important having decent CBs is, we’ve been screaming out about this for a couple of seasons but hopefully it’s not too late to save us. Also how much better do we look without Paqueta?

I do think the survival target will be greater than 40 points this season. So, six wins rather than five would be good.

I think it might be 6 wins needed unless Forest hit a real bad run of for, starting tonight hopefully. They have a tough run-in.

If we perform how we did last night we should pick up a couple of ‘unexpected’ wins.
hopefully Arsenal have won the league by the time we play them but it could be the game they need to win for the title.

We almost played the perfect game last night (just missing the 2nd to kill it) , massive credit to the players, Nuno and his coaches. This was a Man Utd side that won at Arsenal and beat Man City and we gave them hardest game they've had since Carrick took over.

So in short, we have a lot to lose. We need to find a way, and it can start with Wolves doing us a favour later. This "a lot to lose* not much more than a month ago I was beginning not to care because I thought even if we did the unthinkable and survive what was the point because it just meant another season of this, but now as you say there's a lot of potential.. Yep, are the ''I don't mind/care about going down'' brigade still of the same opinion I wonder when we see the likes of Bowen, Fernandes, Summerville etc going out the door? As you say most of this is down to us, but we ain't getting any breaks either. Could be a thoroughly depressing couple of months. Can also forget the ''there's a long way to go still'' chat. 12 games is not a lot.
Bournemouth is now another must win game and they won at Everton last night.

Re: West Ham vs Man Utd | PL | 10.2.26 | Predictions & Match Thread
Chelsea were coasting at 2-0 and inexplicably gifted Leeds - who hadn't been in the game up until then - two goals. It was after that that Palmer missed an absolute sitter.
West Ham should have paid more attention to doubling up on Mbeumo after he went out wide into his most effective position. I'm never comfortable with inviting the opposition to attack at will. All hindsight I know but it's much more difficult to see it as a point won when you are leading in the 95th minute.
We do need to grab the odd unexpected win as there are sure to be hiccups in the 'winnable' games.

To be fair I thought the subs weren't at all negative and just like for like and if anything we had the better chances in the last few minutes.
Scarles should never have passed to an offside Wilson and shortly after that we should have had a free kick to keep the ball up their end even after all that their goal was ridiculous. Then Leeds comeback from 2 down and from what I've read Palmer misses a complete open goal from a few feet out, normally he would score and Sesko wouldn't and we're only 3 points behind them, the dice really aren't landing in our favour this season our predicament is down to us but we're also not getting and breaks and we need a couple.

Just read a couple of the broadsheet match reports and they both seemed a lot less negative about West Ham's predicament - at least one welcoming a potential "hair raising" season run-out.

Chim - Yea that's how I see it, I'm not blaming anyone else. To add, we had we had chances to score a second, but could not do it.
What else is also working against us is, as has been said, is that we now need to win some other games apart from the winnable ones, but we can't do it, as we witnessed last night and against Chelsea - how come Leeds can come back from 2 down at Chelsea yet we couldn't defend a 2 goal lead?? We have Liverpool month end and we need to go there and win, but does anyone think we will. Everything points to us going down unfortunately.

Re: West Ham vs Man Utd | PL | 10.2.26 | Predictions & Match Thread
Like someone else said earlier almost every match had 6-7 minutes of injury time tonight, not just us.
Let's not be silly about it, once you get over the sting of drawing that game against the form team of the moment the mancs had it drilled into them that if they cracked on they'd get something out of tonight.
It's probably not a secret that we cannot hold on to a lead. That MUST influence their players and ours.
It's a bit like everyone hanging their coat on the fact we couldn't defend corners earlier in the season, a fact that got regurgitated long, long after Nuno sorted it out.
The only way to stop conceding late on is to make positive substitutions instead of more defenders and attack the opposition like we're a goal down, like every other team we seem to play.
It's probably too risky for Nuno to get his head around but game management seems to be a bit too complicated a concept this season.
