There isn’t regime change coming. Iran are still firing back.

There is probably a mindset among a gaggle of hawks in the US war office thinking along the lines of "Well, a couple of nukes brought the Japanese to heel pretty quickly last time around, so...".

Big difference is that those classed as today's "enemy" would simply see the use of such weaponry as producing martyrdom for them on steroids and probably goad for more and more atom bombs to be dropped.

Of course that could create such a severe virgin shortage that people may actually decide martyrdom is not worth it for themselves...but I doubt it; virginity will simply go onto rinse & repeat.
