I mean, personally he seemed OK but there was something of the z list Brian Blessed about him. Couldn't speak as well, got outlived my the real thing and was actually,  well, pretty shit at acting, wasn't he? Pretty much dined out on Cocoon where he was even.out acted by that cսnt from Police Academy. Let's face it, he was an overrated badger.

As Nurse said below he was excellent as John Wayne Gacy.  In fact that 1992 TV two parter "To Catch a Killer" is an outstanding piece of drama and Dennehy was one creepy bastard in it.

Thought he had a decent run in the mid 80s with F/X, Best Seller and Belly of an architect. 

According to Wiki, he won two Tony Awards, an Olivier Award, and a Golden Globe, and received six Primetime Emmy Award nominations. I very much doubt that Brian Blessed received similar accolades.

I thought Dennehy was outstanding in First Blood. Didn't know him personally so can't comment on the other stuff.

Oh, and on good news, I found a bottle of my great grandads navy rum at the back of my larder. He died 50 years ago but felt this was the right time to crack it open.
