View From the Opposition - Leicester City
Youth Reporter 10:34 Tue Sep 22
First of all I'd like to thank Vinny on behalf of everyone that has enjoyed his running of this article in recent months/years, it has always been something many of us enjoy reading. I have found with this one already that it is difficult pitching the questions just right where you get some interesting replies and also a bit of banter. Hopefully over the coming weeks and months i'll improve and keep this article as interesting as it has been.

This week we play a Leicester side that are in similar good form to us. As we know we have already lost to them this season and they go into this game unbeaten - although with our 100% win rate away from home one run will come to an end this evening.

Foxes fan Calum Westwood has been kind enough to put himself in the firing line and answer our questions this week.

Like us you’ve started the season much better than expected. Where do you now see yourself finishing? – do you think you can make second behind us?

- It's been an unbelievable start that's for sure, after the summer, Thailand, Sex Tapes and Manager Sackings it's nice that on the field at least, not much has changed, if any thing we're a bit better this season than we were last. More organised, more tactically switched on and that is something that's obvious given the fact that so far at least we're unbeaten! In addition to that we actually won in London earlier this season, but then, you already knew that. As for a final league standing I'd happily settle for staying up, but I think we're better than that and wouldn't be at all surprised to see us in the top half.

In our game a few weeks ago how did you view the controversial decisions – (The disgraceful filthy Vardy not sent off v St. Adrian’s never in a month of Sundays red)

- HA! Jamie Vardy has taken a lot of stick this season, and most of it is totally out of order, I think the problem is that people are envious that he plays for us and not them, he's everything a football supporter wants at their club, hard work, graft, passion, desire, determination and since April last season he's added goals and assists. As for whether or not he deserved to go against your boys, not in a million years! I'm a big fan of Adrian (As a man who follows the Green and White side of Seville, I was gutted when he went to your lot) but Vardy didn't hardly touch him and he rolled about trying to get him sent off which winds me up.

As for Adrian's 'Never in a month of Sunday's Red' are you having a bubble as well as blowing them? Not one Leicester supporter I spoke to thought he meant it, but Christ when he made contact with Jamie I didn't think he'd get up! It's careless from Adrian and as I said he deserved to go. Surprised you've not mentioned the Kasper Schmeichel Arm, but I'll bring that up and tell you the referee nailed that decision too.

Nowadays the League Cup is seen as a distraction to many managers – what sort of team selection should we expect from you?

- Difficult to call to be honest, with the Tinkerman anything can happen. I'd like to see a mixture of first team players and fringe players given a go. Rest players like Vardy, Drinkwater, Schlupp, Big Wes or Huth, Mahrez maybe and give Fuchs, Inler, Kramaric, Benalouane & Dodoo a game. Maybe even keep Inler on for a full 90? Whether or not Don Claudio does that, your guess is as good as mine, we've got a Champions League Six-Pointer on the weekend against a weakened Arsenal to think about, Who needs the Micky Mouse Cup any way?

Even though you’ve won it 3 times in your history - would you prefer league cup win or finish were you are in the league now?

- I'm lucky enough to have been in my early teens when we won it vs Middlesbrough and Tottenham, and unfortunately able to remember Kasey Keller's assist for Alan Neilsen! What would I prefer now? I'd love a trip to Wembley but a Champions League place would be unrivalled in our recent history so I think I'd take the top 4 finish.

King Power Stadium or Filbert Street? How did you feel about moving at the time and has your opinion changed since?

- I only went to Filbert Street once, it was freezing, we lost to Oxford United and I was scared of Filbert Fox and hid under my seat! But looking back I'm so glad I got to go there, I look at pictures of it, and think of the great players and moments that happened between those four stands and I miss it, you can't bring that back, we've named snack bars etc after famous players and even had their pictures on signs outside in the early days but you can't bring back what was taken away when they tore it down, I feel this strong about the place having only been once, but I have my dads stories and vivid memories that he's shared and I feel like I'd been more often, and trust me when your boys get the to the Olympic Stadium you'll know what I'm talking about. I'd personally rather they'd spent the money totally renovating Filbert Street. Having said all that, I love the King Power, I am unlucky enough to live a 300 mile round trip away from the hallowed turf but I love it, and since the back end of last season the atmosphere has been truly outstanding, I was at the Southampton game last season and I spent the entire game on my feet and found myself watching and being involved in the crowd rather than focus on the game.

Everyone is raving about Payet, but apart from him which of our players would you like at Leicester?

- Payet's good but I wouldn't say I'd want him at Leicester, I honestly can't think of any players I'd have, Cresswell is decent back up player for RDL I guess.

Riyad Mahrez – One season wonder or real deal?

- Riyad Mahrez........Real Deal 100% I say that because when we signed him in the Championship I saw him play a few times and I was not impressed, lightweight, to complicated and trying to be too flash for his own good. In the 18 months since he's been a revelation, and when you look back at his story and where he's come from, it's not surprising, he's a dedicated lad who's always had to fight for everything because like a lot young players his genetic make up and not his actual ability held him back. I'm absolutely delighted with him and even more so that we've tied him down to a new deal this summer, at the very least we'll get healthily compensated should a so called bigger club move in for him.

So What is your view of West Ham so far this season?

- I've never really liked West Ham, there's been a few in my life growing up and they've all banged on about the West Ham Way and the fact that West Ham won the World Cup in 1966! On top of that they're based in London, a City that historically Leicester don't do well in! This season you've been the definition of hot and cold, winning your 'tougher games' (AWAY!) and losing your 'easier games' We all know you looked at Leicester City at home as 3 easy points given what happened in summer, Christ every one except us thought we'd lose. I like Payet, I put him in my Fantasy Premier League team before the Man City game, so hopefully he at least continues his form!

As we are interviewing a Norwich fan next week, what question would you like us to ask them?

- Ask them what Darren Eadie was really like as a footballer, as all I ever saw of him was in the sticker albums with his hair all spiked up.

Name your clubs best song/chant?

- I like a few of them, but I'd have to go with 'We're forever Bursting Bubbles'

Obviously as a Leicester fan we have to ask what is your Favourite Flavour Crisp?

- I like Cool Original Doritos to be honest, But if Walkers bring back toasted cheese, I'll be happy.

Bilic has us a formidable force away from home this season – so what is your score prediction.

- We're slightly better away from home also, but League and League Cup are totally different, anything could happen, if' we're on our game then 2-0 but it could just as easily end 1-2 to your boys.

And finally, take the first letter from all previous questions and give us your thoughts on that as a statement.

- LINEKERS A NOB, I'd have to agree, he's a total bell end, living off of his brothers reputation in Spain, Wayne Lineker is indeed a nob. As for Gary, total hero, brilliant footballer, club legend, along with some other generous people helped to save my club from disappearing in the 00's and one of my favourite things I like about him is he tweets what he thinks!

Many thanks to Calum for his answers

You've found a proper clueless post 96 cunt there Yoofy. Creaming himself over all the great players (er who?) he never saw in his one trip to Filbert Street. I hope we fucking smash this lot, Championship side at best.

Vardy looks like he's got AIDS too, like any other cunt that's spent too long in the cackpit that is Leicester.

"Payet's good but I wouldn't say I'd want him at Leicester"

Lol. What a dick. Totally indefensible and even moreso since he has him in his fantasy team. Wouldn't take any of our other players either? Delusional.

Unlucky start for Young Reporter, getting this plank.

There's nothing interesting about opposition fans' witless banter.

There's sometimes something interesting about their honest answers, and a proper joke in there is then good to see.

Re: View From the Opposition - Leicester City
We only have a 100% away win rate, in the PL. we don't have a 100% away record, this season.

I think you need to be a mod to be able to put questions in bold.

They're very fucking long of themselves these Leicester fans, aren't they.

A few results in a row and they're dreaming of a top four finish ag ag ag.

Time for a fucking reality check if you ask me and I sincerely hope it happens this evening.
