I watched a stream which wasn't the greatest, but I thought Ayew had a decent game and gave their keeper the chance to shine on at least three occasions. I was amazed when he was subbed.
Calleri on the other hand did not in my opinion make much effort to close opponents down or have any physical contact, and spent much of the game trotting about trying to give the impression of being busy. The rabona was the last straw for me.

Surface I didn't see the Stoke game but said as much after the Everton game. You can always see more of that aspect of a players game at the match as you can look off the ball and see players who work and those who don't. My impression was that Ayew was hiding and putting himself in positions where it looked like he was trying to get involved but was always avoiding closing down or making runs to help teammates. Have always said when people have been confused as to why we are so bad with players we know are better that a lot of it is to do with being disjointed. Some players don't work for each other by making position or runs to give an option and players get isolated and look shit. To me Ayew is taking the piss and is one we need to shift in the summer.

He was actively seeking to avoid involvement, particularly in the first half. Obviously Callieri being willing but shit doesn't help the situation.

Yes I get that, but can only see one portion of the pitch at a time, can definitely see more when you can see it as a whole.
So yes we could see what he did when on the ball but maybe it was when he wasn't on the ball that was the reason for his hooking, as I said it mystified me too at the time.

With the benefit of cameras all over the shop, I had as good a view (if not better) of what occurred, and certainly good enough to see that Ayew was our only real goal threat.
Dowie was ONE of the commentators. They were both perplexed by the substitution.

I couldn't believe he was taken off either, butt o be fair if someone was at the game they would have a better view of all those things mentioned.
Also the commentator was Dowie who didn't have a clue, he kept praising Kouyate, saying he was easily the best player at the club

You appear to have selective vision.
Ayew couldn't believe he was being taken off. I couldn't believe he was being taken off. The commentators couldn't believe he was being taken off.

Word for word spot on.
The highlight of the day was the barmaid at the rugby club's sprayed on satin trousers - and to get things in context, she was carrying a few pounds.

Ayew could have chosen to be a threat but unfortunately for his teammates chose time and again to hide, deliberately timing his runs to be too late, making only token challenges, ensuring there was always a defender between him and a teammate wanting an outlet. When he did get the ball, he gave it away every time.
Quite honestly, it was one of the most cowardly performances I have ever seen - he got a major bollocking from one of the coaching staff as he walked off at half time and was quite rightly hooked after an hour. One crowd pleasing lunge to give away a throw-in after 59 minutes does not constitute commitment to the ause.
He can fuck right off right for all I care.

I truly like Bilic but, if this is what he serves up next season WHU will be lucky to get 30,000 through the turnstiles. IMO we have the nucleus of a half decent side. Adrian (back up only) Reid,Masuaku,Ogbonna,Collins with Burke and Oxford as back up. Obiang,Kouyate, Lanzini,Fernandes ( again back up). The rest can ply their trade elsewhere for me. Who is responsible for recruitment?? Whoever he is he needs the sack and quickly. But as one Poster has said without new owners, manager etc etc we will have the same agin come August. I just turned 70 so my time is running out. Wouldn't it be nice for a top six or cup run.................. Dream on son

One thing that makes a manager a GOOD manager is the ability to identify threats during a game, and come up with effective ways to nullify them.
Slaven Bilic identified the threat that Ayew was posing to Stoke, and nullified it by withdrawing him.
He hasn't quite got the hang of it, it would seem.

We are a shadow of the side of last season, 1 step forward and now 2 steps back.
If we dont make significant changes and recruitment in the summer we will not survive another season in this league.

If I was a club like Leeds, Villa or Sunderland trying to get back into the Premier league I'd take Noble in a sort of Nolan role as captain Even QPR

It's clear to most that Noble is finished. The trouble is he's still got 3 years on a very lucrative contract so we'll be saddled with him for quite a while yet.

Makes me laugh those who write off Collins. He has come in again and been such a rock for us and have managed a little unbeaten run with him in.
Noble is so so slow. If that ball does not arrive at his feet, he treads water trying to retrieve it.
