Welcome back Fraz, son. I have said before am as boring as anything. Don't really care what WHO thinks.

Which make it strange that you have picked up random bits of my posts and are reacting to them for the second time in few days. You have some other interest in me other than being entertained?

While I have you on the line, Alphonso Davies scored his first goal for Bayern yesterday. Youngest player to score for them in 20 years. I am sure you care and if you don't, guess what, I don't care that you don't.

Why thank you very much Alf’s, I appreciate your appreciation of the quality of my summation of the events of Saturday and the way in which I reduced my highest to a mere 93 paragraphs.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Huddersfield - Official Match Thread 4-3FT
I don’t get to many games these days, but I was there at the weekend and I have to say that, despite the score line, Huddersfield were appalling. We gifted them three goals, and our shape was all over the place, but they looked totally overwhelmed and terrified of, at any point, we managed to string a couple of passes together.

It was a cagey opening and pretty equal until Antonio hit the bar. Then we got our penalty a few minutes later and, whilst I hoped that would settle us and kick us on, it did the exact opposite.

We struggled to string more than a few passes togther in the first half, Lanzini and arnie looked absolutely determined to our trick each other with stupid flicks and passes round the corner to no one. We lost possession countless times totally needlessly by trying to be clever, especially when you add to the list the number of ludicrous through balls we tried. At times it was like watching a 7 old learning the skills and passing controls on FIFA and just going for broke every time.

Arnie could not get the ball to stick, to the point I was trying to figure out at one point if he was actually Carroll in disguise. Antonio seems to be drawn infield a lot as if he was trying to make space for a pacey player on the overlap, but zab isn’t exactly electric (though he was in acres of space for most of the game and largely ignored)

Their two first half goals were a joke - a crappy free header and a free kick routine that you could see a mile off yet no one picked out the runner stood in 20 yards of space on his own. The cross was scuffed and awful, so was the finish and yet we defended so badly it worked. It was particularly galling as we’d just finally had a decent 5 minute spell of possession and attacking.

Cresswell and noble had good first halves, Cresswell on a couple of occasions absolutely furious with Anderson and Lanzini for not spotting him in space when he’d made good runs.

Diop and oggy took turns to be shaky and cover for each other and rice was really poor - his passing % must have been single figures in the first half.

I felt at half time we were crying out for Nasri at half time just to get a foot on the ball and bring some composure. It was at least pleasing to see a change made, even if it took half an hour to have any impact

Their third goal at the time looked really poor from us, but in fairness although Diop missed his interception/tackle oggy was there and the chap still had a lot of work to do, and it was a superb finish.

I felt it was harsh that noble got taken off when rice was the one having a shocker, but Pellegrini perhaps realised we would need the extra lace/mobility chasing the game. It was no surprise to see arnie go off, but I’d been expecting a Snodders or even Arthur to add some width as by this point we had Lanzini Nasri and rice sort of trying to figure out where to go and Anderson seemingly trying to offer width in both flanks. But Perez it was and Minutes later a cross from the left whizzed through the six yard box and neither Perez nor Hernandez were anywhere near it, which left you wondering what the hell was the point of either of them if they aren’t getting near a poachers finish.

However, as predicted, Nasri proved to be the difference. He is so calm and composed on the ball, so comfortable keeping it. As poor as we’d been up until oggys goal, that was the moment where we seemed to realise if we actually started just doing the simple hinge, they couldn’t cope.

It’s no surprise that once rice stopped giving the ball away and we just stared moving it round and passing patiently but with purpose, we pinned them back and the last two goals came from that. Nasris delivery for the equaliser was excellent and it was a brilliant finish. The winner came from a short corner we should have tried a few times earlier as they never picked Anderson up.

Even then we tried to mess it up in between with shambolic defending and I have no idea how, with three players unmarked and inside within 8 yards of the goal, in open play, they messed up scoring.

Overall I felt Nasri was the difference. The defence was worryingly inept and it also perhaps showed how important rice is - he didn’t play well for 75 minutes and they managed to get through the centre of midfield with ease

The game, I think, highlighted that:

1. We need Balbuena back
2. Arnie is happy to be a nob until the summer
3. Nasri is head and shoulders above everyone else
4. We are already scarily dependent on rice (and there was no Obiang on the bench)
5. Antonio still can’t defend or mark
6. We can still play really well when we get our shit together
7. It’s possible Tonja e a pretty terrible game of football yet still have 7 goals and a very exciting ending

Probably not a coincidence that any consistency we were building up in December disappeared once our main goal threat decided he wanted to go to China and our defensive organiser in Balbuena got injured.

Arnautovic hasn’t scored since and Balbuena hasn’t played.
In fact we will probably be in the 32nd game of the season before we start Arnautovic, Anderson, Lanzini & Balbuena together ie our best team.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Huddersfield - Official Match Thread 4-3FT
Bored a bit.

Did a predictor and we can come 7th. The trouble is we have to win our next game and our last 4 (losing the other two)

Burnley to go down with the other two. And Spurs to finish 5th.

I might be biased.

Who said we should be beating them? We haven't any divine right to beat any team in the PL.

But, yes, I do agree, we are struggling with consistency, the only month this season we have shown that was in December and into first week or so of January.

But how much do you expect MP to change in one season? At start of this season we brought in a lot of new players. They need to be bedded in and integrated. Then he had to find the right combination which, eventually, after a lot of tinkering in midfield he just about got it. Then we have had what is arguably our worst season ever for injuries. Not just lots of them but very serious injuries. For example, 3 players out at same time with ACL injury. Reid, Carroll and Wilshere same old same old. Balbuena. Cresswell. Perez. Antonio. All been injured at some point.

On top of all that he has had to change the whole playing philosophy to one of being much more entertaining, positive and expansive. Whilst also making us hard to beat. I think he has got the first bit right but it does reply on having a solid defence which I think is being let down by the full backs and silly errors.

It's just personal. MP makes me feel confident and comfortable. Plus, taking into account what he has already achieved under difficult circumstances my expectations of him are not all of what I mentioned above; plus putting in top drawer performances week in week out. It's just not realistic.

But obviously some West Ham fans slagging him off are much more demanding than me.

Fulham and Huddersfield could win all their games and still need snookers to get past us, mate.

Assuming we lose all our remaining games, both Burnley and Cardiff need to drop a maximum of 10 points each for them both to go past us and they still have to play each other.

Sounds unlikely

Fella, it's very simple, we have struggled against sides that we should be beating pretty much all season, and that is still the case in March. I'm not saying he can't fix it, and no I'm not saying we should win every week, but so far he is still struggling to get consistency, particularly against the lesser sides, we can't keep a clean sheet and we always seem to start most games asleep? So you are confident he can sort it out, good for you, let's hope you are proved right, but you haven't been yet, clearly.

Defensively we are a total shambles, but what do you expect when we have so many attack minded players in the team

For me I'd like to see Balbuena back v Everton plus Obiang alongside Rice, have a bit more solidity in the centre of the park.

Antonio was also terrible so I'd hook him for Nasri

Fabianski
Fredericks
Balbuena
Diop
Cresswell
Rice
Obiang
Nasri
Anderson
Lanzini
Hernandez
