Alec Baldwin - Manslaughter
He has been charged....seems there was always a bit more to this story than first reported. I know the gun shouldn't have been loaded but there were tales of the way he was using said gun being way inappropriate....
Does our very own Justin P the stuntman have anything to add on this?

A revolver (the type of gun that was fired) cannot be fired unless you pull the trigger, even if the gun is cocked.
I know this because I used to own pistols and one of my guns was a .357 magnum, which is not too different from the gun Baldwin was using.

He had to have pulled the trigger ofr the gun to fire

You're right. Point is what sort of risk assessment takes place that rules its less economic to knock up realistic looking dummies/blanks than use real live ammunition?

Whoever is in charge of production should be up in court.

*googles*

Oh.....

Re: Alec Baldwin - Manslaughter
I've fired blanks, they don't have any tips on them. it's just a cartridge with no projectile on the end.
You may be thinking of dummies which look like a real bullet but it just has a dummy cartridge the one I used were all grey with red stripes

Did Marlon Brando rape that actress with butter in Last Tango in Paris?

Megyn Kelly was interesting last night, not to say as always pleasing on the eye. She showed some clips of Baldwin speaking with Police stating on two occasions that he shot the gun, after denying in interviews that he didn't pull the trigger. It seems he suggests that he pulled the hammer back and the gun went off when he released the hammer, but didn't pull the trigger, however the FBI are saying that type of gun doesn't go off unless you pull the trigger. I'm not a gun buff so have no idea if a gun can go off just by pulling back and releasing the hammer. All this allegedly of course.

Re: Alec Baldwin - Manslaughter
The most baffling thing about all this is that they didn't just use a fake gun, or even a real gun with realistic looking blanks (the orange tips would be visible with a revolver)

Then when you do a bit of digging it turns out that using real guns with real bullets is normal for films (!!!)

Hollywood special effects can bring mummies to life and recreate the Titanic but knocking up a semi-realistic looking shooter for a cowboy film is beyond them?!

According to this Vanity Fair article

https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2023/01/alec-baldwin-halyna-hutchins-rust-bullets

five other live rounds were found on the 'Rust' set.
One was allegedly found in Baldwin's holster.

Sounds like the production was a mess.

Ah. That is definitely not the “My character did it, not me,” defence.

That sounds closer to the classic masturbation mess defence: “I was just cleaning it and it went off.”

ABC interview December 3, 2021 - Snippet

Stephanopoulos furthermore pressed Baldwin on the claim that “it wasn’t in the script” for the Colt .45 revolver to be fired during the gunfight scene he was rehearsing when Hutchins was shot.

“Well, the trigger wasn’t pulled, I didn’t pull the trigger,” Baldwin, 63, said. “I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them, never.”

Did Baldwin have a flashback and think he was shooting at the cook on Red October the Soviet submarine?
