Allison, Bond & Cantwell - Academy of Football - You Tube
Stumbled across his three parter on You Tube last night. Malcolm Allison, John Bond and Noel Cantwell take a nostalgic trip down memory lane at the famous Cafe Cassettari’s. A good watch.

Zico, glad you've got him watching this he might finally get himself an education on West Ham instead of bouncing about on here like some sort of expert.......no doubting the facts below just doubting this long history with the club he claims to have......called him John 'Lyle' ffs......when pulled up on not knowing him....your post at 6:42 Tue Feb 7 really tells of the regard he was held in......

My last word on your stupidity is that Lyall took over Ron Greenwood’s excellent team and benefitted from great players but he also relegated us twice.

Yes I preferred Redknapp to Lyall. And Greenwood come to that.

No worries, lots of West Ham stuff pops up on You Tube but never had seen that before and it looks like it's been on there a few years so no idea how it has evaded me.

There was another really good one. Jeff Stelling/Gary Newbon did a really good show called "Time of Our Lives" where they just chatted with sports stars from yesteryear. The 1991 Tokyo 4x400m relay team on You Tube is particularly funny with Akabussi, Redmond and Regis. They had one with John Bond, Ken Brown and Ronnie Boyce called "The Academy" but I can't find it anywhere. However the Boys of 86 one is on there, again very funny with Phil Parkes, Tony Gale and McAvennie. Search "Time of Our Lives Boys of 86" and a several parter will appear.,

Thanks for that zico, a real delight. Like Ted I started with the '58 team vs Rotherham - the 8-0 Johnny Bond refers to. Could be playing them again soon the way things are going!

Wow that's brilliant martin my brother got their autographs on the train home with my dad from Portsmouth 1958 they were all in the buffet car but still signed his programme ! My brothers friend a few years later got polio and he gave it to him !
Typical West Ham.

Glad you enjoyed it Ted. I just find it fascinating when they talk about things like soft toed football boots, and people said they would never take off. Those guys and the likes of Greenwood and Lyall were pioneers in many ways but didn't have the millions that Guardiola and Klopp have had. People say that Alex Ferguson was the best of all time, and they are probably right, and yet he went to John Lyall for advice. Says it all.
