Moyes takes action to change things - breaking news
Sorry sarcasm got the better of me.

Cresswell was a big part of our goals from set pieces. He was lost that a bit and now others take them and we don’t score many from set pieces…

He used to be fantastic at whipping them in and would also be good at free kicks. Now he can hardly clear the first man. Is he suffering with a confidence dip? most likely.

I think the red cards and the stick he got last season has clearly affected him. He has also lost a yard or two of pace.

Not overly enthused that he has been kept on but I think he would be ok to use in the cup games and potentially Europe (against lesser opposition) when we are eventually at full strength and don't rely on him at LB.

Backed ourselves into a corner here coz we don't have enough home grown players and they're too expensive

Another terrible decision. Sums up why the club is going backwards.

I have alot of time for Cresswell. He's been a brilliant servant and an ever present in our very recent history. Hasn't had too many injuries and always does his best.

BUT

I do think that full back position is one that is costing us now and we have no full backs that have proper pace, nor do they get up and attack enough. Cresswell for me is a traditional left back. And in his time with us the game has changed. Full backs now need to be very good players with a good delivery, but they also need to be sprinters with good engines. Cresswell isn't that due to his age. And, no disrespect, but his final ball most of this season has been woeful. The Man Utd game being the main one where he hit the first man on every attempt at a cross.

I'm really not sure what the logic is behind extending his contract at 33? I can only think as a traditional left back he fits with Moyes view of a full back and he can do a job for Dave if required.

Like most things these days with West Ham and Moyes its just a bit uninspiring. Again, with no disrespect meant to Cresswell.

No brainer really. The cost of buying two left backs is prohibitive and the younger players need a bit more experience. Key figure at the club off the pitch as well. I hope he stays fit.

Always been a fan Cress and haven't got a problem with him as a back up but we should really be looking to replace him as a starter.

What the fuck are we doing? Cresswell is fucking terrible. Cost us the Europa too, the fucking twat.

Fuck off Moyes.

I assume the reason that Cresswell was given this deal because of the homegrown quota needed for next season

been a good servant to the club but has really fallen off the past 18 months.

I don't really have a problem with Cresswell getting a new contract. I'd say he deserves it on the whole. He doesn't need to be starting much longer though.

He's 33 in December this year that's ancient in the current climate of speedie wing backs or whatever they're called nowadays.
Nothing surprises me what goes on at that club anymore you don't hear of players getting testimonials anymore as they're outed as soon as they lose a bit of pace.
Only at West Ham it's different.

Sorting his mate out before he leaves.

A smaller version of sorting mates out at PNE before he left last time
