At the moment I'd say what you could take out of the table is:
Liverpool have a 5 pt gap and given they and Man City dont lose much that is handy
Leicester and West Ham are higher than you'd expect
Man U look like continuing their late season form after they prematurely gave OGS the job
The promoted sides are probably doing as expected bar Norwich's freak result v Man City
Newcastle fans fears after Benitez left are being realised
Watford look terrible at both ends of the pitch and need Deeney back

"The table means nothing at moment" Many posters on here were calling for MPs head after 4 games last season

Would hate to see what many of WHO’s jolly cognoscenti would’ve had to say about Sir Trev in his pomp.

Lightweight?

Drifts out of games?

Fails to track back and get stuck in?

Injury prone?

Shit corners?

Nailed-on carnage every match-thread.

So good to see we have some excellent technical players in MF and attack...
Lanzini...Anderson...Yarmolenko...Haller...and Fornals...
Beats many of the cloggersl we've had in the past...

Glad to be wrong about yesterday being a nailed-on 2-0 defeat.

Haller taking that ball down and laying it off to Yarmo was a beautiful skill, as was his sweet left foot.

Anderson's little cushioned header for Cresswell was sublime too.

You can talk all you like about work rate and drifting in and out of games but it's the sublime moments that live with you, or me anyway.

I agree to a certain extent , he did frustrate me when he had the ball on the wing, a burst and dribble would of taken him on to the penalty area, He didn't do this at all. He also doesn't seem to want to shoot often. But time and time again he creates something. Suprisingly he is a good header of the ball and could of easily scored with one headed attempt. I also think he is covering for Cresswell a lot. On several occasions he slotted in at left back whilst Cresswell ambled back. Cresswel made several mistakes at the back and I feel Anderson is wary of this. Cresswell needs to do more imho then that will release Anderson to do more damage..

He was good aganst ManU but they were lacking in confidence. Agaisnt a more detemined and quicker Bournemouth he was poor ,off the pace. Not able to get back quicker enough.
Both sides yesterday looked knackered towards the end.

lets be honest- apart from man citry we havent played anyone who's remotely decent ( and that includes Man U) and as ive said here a few times- i think we should be at least a win ahead for the brighton/villa/bournemouth games so where we are is about par. Which isnt a bad thing

There's parts of games where it's the most fluid in the final third with varous options on as well that I've seen us for years.

West ham being in the top 4 at this stage doesn't mean anything other than we are unlikely to end up in the bottom 3 by the end.

The table means nothing at this stage

Not sure that's true.

Look at the league table for the last few years, after 6/7 games.

You'll find two, or even 3 teams in the bottom 6, who end up relegated.

At the other end, anybody really think Man City and Liverpool won't be the top 2?

Although early days and our defence does seem porous at times, we are actually joint top of the current clean sheets table!

Every win, loss (just the one in the league, so far) and draw that we’ve had have been the result that we’ve deserved so far; so our current standing in the table is a fair reflection.

The table means nothing at this stage in any case but I’m certainly content with the start that we’ve made to this season.

I think we are playing well but we have lapses at the back and need to take them chances!

Must say it's nice to be third when not actually playing that well. I was wrong yesterday, we "are" digging out results in games we would have lost last year and if we could improve defensively we would be a very decent team. We do need to improve the squad though as Oxford proved.

Agree with pretty much all that, would add that Noble was v good and Rice was excellent. Great to see Rice moving into the space that was opening up infront of him. Something he should do move of. When he drives into midfield he tends to look for a forward pass.

Re: ⚽ Bournemouth v West Ham - Official Match Thread
We did create plenty of chances, missed 2 point blank headers, Yarmo put a good chance wide, Anderson missed a good chance too when he should have squared it for Haller, and Lanzini towards the end for some reason decided to play it wide to the opposite wing when he was about 10 yards in front of goal a bit to the left, plus sure there were one or two other chances.

We should have won, couldn't do much about their goals, maybe could have done better for the first and Maybe Fab saves the 2nd but we still should have scored at least 3.

Rice & Yarmolenko were superb, Haller was effective and didn't think Anderson had a bad game, was very involved..
Fornals is improving and getting more stuck in and the fullbacks were good too. Much prefer Cresswell to Masuaku as a defender and he got forward and linked up well down the left.

We're looking like a good side these days and Bournemouth should be happy with that point.
