Might be a bit too far West for you, but there are one two that are quite popular with the local tiddly winks in Queensway.

There are / were some really disgusting places. Remember years ago when I was too young / skint to know better I went to one of those 10 quid cash on the door, all you can eat 'buffets' that was up some back stairs. Upon looking closer, could see a thick skin had formed over most of the sauce dishes and there was a sign that said 'Stir for Hot Food'.

I was out of there sharpish

It is hit and miss down there, was last there in 2018 and it was pretty shit by memory. Being in such a tourist trap they probably ain't too fussed at looking for 'repeat business'

They can go from good to crap and back fairly quickly, but Plum Valley was decent just before Christmas.

I always choose the ones with plenty of Tiddly punters, lots of duck being ordered and the rudest service.

Do a prior reccie if going with a big party. I love my Soho Chinese.
