Who thinks trying to sign this Nigerian due is preparing for life after Reid?

Re: Jenkinson's worth...
Our owners have been in football long enough to have sorted the price out when we got him now we are in a no win situation. If he's shit we have him all season and then he goes back and if he does well they ramp the price up

Re: Jenkinson's worth...
Then you can argue without Song there would be no composure therefore more teams on the front foot against us, forcing Jenkinson to defend and not have a chance of getting forward.. I don't think Jenkinson is great at defending either. He is much better at going forward.

Song is 100% the priority over Jenkinson IMO.

I would even go as far to say Song is a priority over Reid as I feel Ginge and Tomkins have been just as good as Reid this season, but nobody is in the same class as Song.

Re: Jenkinson's worth...
I actually think jenko signing is more important than song...

If we don't have good full backs who can deliver a ball and push teams back there is no space or time for a player like song in the holding role meaning he will be pushed out and pressed too easily...

Look what happened vs arsenal when JOB had to be there

Stirling. So the PL top clubs, have English players, that are shit? Why would they do that?

Re: Jenkinson's worth...
I like him and he fits in with our play

I'm sure the daves will do a deal if suits or find someone just like as having pace and stamina in the fb has really transformed our play

Song is much more important

Re: Jenkinson's worth...
Reading this thread, it just underlines to me why we shouldn't be even thinking of buying Jenkinson right now (and I'm sure we aren't BTW). He's probably at the very top of his value, and Arsenal can play hardball over a player they probably don't even want. And we have him until the Summer anyway, and can arrange a subsequent transfer at any point before then.

I think when he's back at Arsenal, and perhaps out of the first team in August, his price will drop significantly. That's the time to do the deal.

you can be english & shit and still play for england as long as you play for the yids, arsenal, liverpool, man city, chelsea or man utd.

Re: Jenkinson's worth...
Shaw is and was an England international when the Mancs bought him, part of that would be that he would naturally ascend to e England's LB for years to come, he mo as good as he is doesn't have that kind of baggage, I reckon £8m would be a good price for him

Get it done Sullivan

ludo21 2:05 Wed Jan 21
Re: Jenkinson's worth...
Don't really see the problem.... 8m is a joke figure for Reid when he is a free agent in the summer.

A realistic figure for Reid would be 3-4m so assuming 4m changes hands Jenkinson's true price would be about 8m.

El Scorchio 2:02 Wed Jan 21
Re: Jenkinson's worth...
Would really hate to pay more than about 8 for him.

Trouble is the stupid fee Man U paid for Shaw has utterly hyperinflated the market for full backs.

So Arse value a player they don't want higher than a player they do want?

I don't think or hope Sullivan falls for this

Re: Jenkinson's worth...
Hope it is made permanent this window as he will then be able to shove it up them when we play at the Emirates rather than have to sit it out.

Re: Jenkinson's worth...
Arsenal have been very clever in upping Jenkinsons value to 12 million from 5/8 million.

They want Reid and they can see how well Jenks is playing for us, if they can get 4 million plus Reid for Jenks then they are affectively getting Reid for free! as they would of taken 5 mill for Karl just a few months back.

Anyway this is just the start of the bidding war, both sides setting their stall out, and people are right on here that if will go to the very last day of the window as we currently have injuries.

Hull City have made an offer to take Carl Jenkinson on a permanent deal.
The 22-year-old can leave Arsenal and was initially set to leave on loan.
Arsenal signed Calum Chambers from Southampton on Monday in a £12million deal that could rise to £16m, and it is clear Jenkinson is now surplus to requirements. They have also signed right back Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle for £10m.

Hull have bid around £3m but the player is valued closer to £5m by Arsenal.
Jenkinson's preference is to stay in London and West Ham would be favourites if they match or better the bid.
Hull are in talks with Dundee United's Andy Robertson and Sheffield United over Harry Maguire - despite the Yorkshire club initially rejecting Hull's offer last week.

Swansea, who have asked about Tottenham's Kyle Naughton, and Sunderland have also shown an interest in Jenkinson.
West Ham are continuing to look for a striker also but strain exists between manager Sam Allardyce and the club's owners.
Hull have also signed Robert Snodgrass, Jake Livermore and Tom Ince this summer.

Re: Jenkinson's worth...
Twelve million seems an outrageous sum, but it's not my money, so the dildo brothers should pay it. They can dangle Reid in front of them as a part payment before he walks for nowt in four months.

Being young and English seems to inflate a player's valuation these days, but his signature must be a priority.

Re: Jenkinson's worth...
Naughton just gone for 5m to Swansea

Shaw 25m

Talk of Seamus Coleman going for 20m+

Silly prices but based on those 12m is fair enough... I can't see us paying 12m so I reckon the only way we will get him is a swap plus cash for Reid in this window.... which I think / hope will happen.
